Murray 32 Graves County 14

Featured Replies

Final.

Murray’s defense played pretty good throughout the game. Graves scores on the first drive with the help of two PI calls. Form there, Graves could not move the ball at all until late in the 4th but got stopped at the 15, I think.  Murray fumbled the ball on their own 10 and Graves scored with a min left in the game.  Murray ate the clock throughout the game but seemed to have too many penalties. Something they have yet to clean up.  The game was not as close as the score suggests, IMO.

The schedule gets no easier for Graves. They could very well be 1-6 or even 0-7 to start the season. Their next 4 are Union County, Owensboro, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Apollo. Maybe the offense gets going and they are able to get a game or two, but it's looking rough at the moment.

Brian York said it best towards the end of his broadcast of the game.

Graves' offense is fundamentally flawed, if not outright broken right now.

It also feels like they're playing up in regards to the non-district schedule, given the lower end talent on the team.

I thought the Graves D played well.  They fly around and will hit you from several positions.  But yes, agree, the offense does not help and leave them on the field too much.  I heard Graves had around 130 yards of offense for the game.

Murray needs to clean up the penalties. That will cost them in a tight game.

Sure, Murray has a couple of things to iron out, but, if they do, they're capable of a long run in 3a. Very talented across the board with stellar line play and very good skill players. Their defense is still a work in progress, but, has continued to improve with each game. They should be 9-1 or 10-0 by seasons end.
