The 2025 KHSAA Tennis State Championships presented by UK HealthCare will begin Tuesday in Lexington with the opening rounds of singles and doubles competition.

The girls' singles and doubles tournaments will play out entirely at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Kentucky, starting Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET.

The boys' singles tournament will start at Sayre Athletic Complex on Tuesday at 8 a.m. At the same time, the first day of boys' doubles will take place at both Sayre Athletic Complex and Lexington Christian.

On Wednesday, singles and doubles competition will continue for both boys and girls at UK, starting once again at 8 a.m.

Singles and doubles play will conclude Thursday at UK, beginning with the semifinal rounds of boys' and girls' singles at 8 a.m. and the semifinal rounds of boys' and girls' doubles at 10 a.m. The championship rounds of both genders' singles and doubles tournaments are scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m.

The Tennis State Championships will reconvene for two days of team tennis on Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4.

The girls' team tournament will take place solely at UK, starting with the first and quarterfinal rounds on June 3 at 9 a.m. The first two rounds of the boys' team tournament will be hosted at Sayre Athletic Complex, however, starting on the same day and at the same time.

The boys' and girls' team tournaments will conclude at UK on June 4, beginning with the semifinals at 9 a.m.

With the now near certainty of rain on Tuesday, the locations for Tuesday’s matches in the KHSAA Tennis State Championships presented by UK HealthCare will be adjusted. Due to the limited number of available indoor courts and the volume of matches in the tournaments, the KHSAA will utilize no-ad scoring for the first round.

BOYS

All boys' matches (singles and doubles) will move to the Lexington Tennis Club (410 Redding Road, Lexington, KY 40517). We will have access to 10 courts (1-5 and 11-15) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional parking for LTC is available within walking distance at Kirklevington Park (396 Redding Rd, Lexington, KY 40517).

The ten (10) boys' singles matches (Match #1-11) scheduled for Sayre at 8 a.m. (excluding the default in Match 4) will be played at the Lexington Tennis Club at 8 a.m. The six (6) doubles matches scheduled for 8 a.m. at Lexington Christian Academy (Match #1-6) and the next four singles matches at Sayre (Match #12-15) will move to 9 a.m. at the Lexington Tennis Club. 

 

GIRLS

The girls' matches (singles and doubles) will be split between the four indoor courts at the University of Kentucky and Bluegrass Racquet Club (151 Brannon Meadow Way, Nicholasville, KY 40356). There will be three courts available at BRC until 6 p.m.

In the girls' singles draw, the first four matches in the bracket (Match #2-5) will be played at UK at 8 a.m. The next six girls' singles matches in the bracket will go to Bluegrass Racquet Club, with the first three (Match #6-8) at 8 a.m. and the next three (Match #9-11) at 9 a.m. After that, the next eight will play at UK (Match #12-19), then the next six will be at BRC (Match #20-25).

Information about the remaining opening round matches (times and locations) will be updated on UTR.

Any matches underway when courts close will be halted and resumed at another location.

If an opportunity presents itself to move outdoors, information will be announced at the sites, on social media, via email and KHSAA.org.

If only one round is completed on Tuesday, three rounds will be played on Wednesday so that the semifinals and finals will be played as scheduled on Thursday.

What a run of dominance by the Colonels! Two three peats in doubles and team events, two runners-up and a "Chip" in singles. 

In my (cynical) opinion, most KHSAA changes are done at the behest of the largest schools in Louisville, and if they negatively impact NKY schools, then all the better. While I acknowledge that the team format change in tennis did align the tennis format to be consistent with golf, I do believe it was also done to address what was considered an advantage for CCH that more of their players qualified for the state tournament than the Louisville schools due to their dominance in the region. In the new format, this group of Colonels still blew away the field. This is a generational group of players with what will end up being 3 D1 players and a very strong supporting cast, Congratulations to the Colonels and coach Herts!
