Donations, Grants are a big thing that helps pay for them, multi sport use, and some school boards aren't afraid to go into the red to help pay for things. a SOKY school put classrooms in their football stadium and added it to their vocational campus and got it paid for by reaching into multiple pockets. Nickel and Dime property taxes also help fund some of these things.

The Warren County schools spread their money to all schools, South Warren was the last to get turf and the first to get their indoor. Greenwood is currently having one built I believe. Not sure of the plans for Warren East and Warren Central, but they all have had their facilities updated recently.

There are no plans for East nor Central, they had their band aid put on after the School District decided it was a better idea for them to build a brand new mammoth of a school in the prosperous part of town opposed to fixing the issues at the other ones. They did end up renovating the two a few years later and I do believe East and Central have better facilities than a lot of programs but to compare it to what is going on at South Warren and Greenwood is comical.

My frustration isn’t that the golden children of the School District have the financial and community support to build these nice fancy indoor facilities for their student athletes but the fact that they put the students on the other side of town on the back burner of getting a quality education due to the circumstances in the classroom setting that made it difficult. You’re talking about a Warren East school that had literal trash cans catching rainwater from the night before while you’re sitting at your desk attempting to listen to a lecture in 2012.

All in all, if the Spartans wanted a turf field they would’ve got one at their command, when the Raiders asked for a roof to prevent their students and faculty from breathing in mold and disrupting their classrooms with rainwater they said we’ll just build another school and worry about you all at another time. Still have the same attitude I had all those years ago about this situation, it truly is a damn shame.

Additional details on the building from the Architecture firm that designed it.

RBS Design Group is proud to partner with the Somerset Independent School District on the design of their brand-new, multi-sport athletic facility! This dynamic complex will feature:

⚡️ Indoor turf football & soccer field

 ⚡️ Multi-sport training zones

⚡️ Film room with theater seating

 ⚡️Weight room

 ⚡️Spacious locker rooms

 ⚡️Golf simulators & practice green

 ⚡️Jumbotron & new scoreboards

We’re honored to help bring this vision to life and deliver a facility that reflects Somerset’s commitment to excellence, opportunity, and community.

A special thank you to the Somerset Board of Education and district leaders for your trust and partnership on this exciting project!

Saw the facility plan online, and it looks to be extremely impressive. With surrounding schools making such large investments to their facilities like Garrard, Lincoln, Casey, Danville, and Mercer (new stadium in the works) it seems like either invest in new facilities, or lose student athletes to schools that are. Somerset making the correct investments! Well done!

Construction moving right along.

They almost have the field part under roof.  It is supposed to be regulation width and 70 yards long.
