Ashland 55 Boyd County 47 (16th Region Championship)

????Ashland Tomcats???

Make it seven straight region titles. The dynasty lives on.

They did the rivalry proud. It was a battle from the get-go.

Childers was a force, scoring a game high 29.

Ultimately, the Tomcats would not be denied, closing the show on a 9-0 run.

Spurlock going out definitely hurt Boyd County. Hope his injury is not bad.

Zander Carter continues to build his case as an all-time 16th Region great.

✔️ 3,000+ career points (Ashland's all-time leader)

✔️ Three region tournament MVPs (most ever)

✔️ He's the all-time leading scorer in region tournament history

✔️ He's never lost a region tournament game (15-0 with 5 championships)

It's really pretty incredible that Boyd held a 4Q lead after losing him early. The Lions got four combined points from their top two scorers and were still there at the end.

They knew what was on the line and who was standing on the other side of it.

Don't remember the last time I have seen the runner-up put more players on the all-tournament team than the winning team.

In 1986 when we (East Carter) won the region the runner-up team (Morgan Co.) had a player win the MVP award.
