From 2015 thru 2021, Mercer Co. Titan Football recognized a Hog, Dog & Titan at the end of each quarter. The Titan was always at the end of the 3rd Quarter. It was an attempt to build bridges post-merger(Harrodsburg & Mercer) and celebrate the past. It was criticized for keeping alive old memories and rivalries that divided the community. What do you think?  Was it a good or bad thing to have the Hog-Dog-Titan?

The picture on the Youtube link... I was excited to meet Henry Parks the night(November 2018 playoff game) he was our Hog. He was a great player at old Harrodsburg HS. I enjoyed talking to Jason Dunn about this on our podcast who was also our HOG one evening.

I think it was a great idea.  Embracing all of the different foundations of the current team was being respectful of ALL of the foundations.  I also think playing home games at Harrodsburg's old field helped give ownership of the current MERCER team to the old HOGS.  Harrodsburg had such a rich history that I think the first several years they had to feel as if they had lost all of it.  It seemed to me to be a great idea to help everyone understand what makes up the current DNA of today's Titan's.

100% the correct thing to do. Harrodsburg didn't disappear it was absorbed to create a new school. To deny the past history of schools due to consolidation erases so much tradition not only in this instance but at any schools and not just in sports but in academia as well. To many schools do not educate the student body on the past history of the school they are attending. Educate them about the history and maybe a student or/and a athlete could use some part of it as motivation to make them a better person, student or athlete.

GREAT idea.  Many other county schools should do this or some other initiative to recognize those who have come before them.  Especially schools that were created by a merger.  As an example, Hardin County schools are terrible at this.  They make little or no mention to the schools that created Central Hardin, John Hardin, and North Hardin.  They are missing a good opportunity.

Kudos to you, Chief, for having done this.
