5th Region: Week 10

Featured Replies

Overall, it was a very good week for teams in the 5th Region. Collectively, teams went 22-14 this past week, perhaps the best mark all season. There were some cancellations as many schools were out for sickness. That led to Taylor County, Marion County and John Hardin being unable to get any games in this week.

Adair County continues their stellar play, winning 3 games this week and being the first team to win 20 games in the region. Adair County has won their last 12 games. During that stretch their average margin of win has been slightly over 22 points a game. Adair seems to be firing on all cylinders right now with Connor Loy leading the way. They will be tested this week with a game against Warren Central and then the last team to defeat them Russell County.

Green County had another impressive week, wrapping up the regular season district championship. Green County has now gone undefeated in district play this year after defeating Larue County and Hart County this past week. Green County’s schedule will also increase in difficulty this week as they play at Male, at Central Hardin and host North Hardin.

Central Hardin wrapped up the #2 seed in the 17th district against Etown earlier this week. The game ended up being a 9-point difference, but Etown just could never really get anything going and get any closer than 4-5 points. Central handled business on their home court. Central Hardin has played really well as of late, winning 5 in a row and 8 out of their last 9.

What is the reasoning behind having Central Hardin ranked higher than North Hardin? North Hardin has beaten Central Hardin twice this season in District play.

North has beaten them twice and will be the number 1 seed in the district. But since that game, North is 4-2 (now 4-3 after losing on Monday) while Central is 5-0. There is a case to be made about strength of competition and that's a valid argument. But really it just has more to do with week-to-week results from where they were previously in the rankings.

I'm calling my shot right now.  Adair to repeat in a hotly contested 5th region tournament.
