Week 5 brings in a new calendar year. How many games will get played in this first full week of the new year remains undecided as every game in the 5th region on Monday, January 6th has been cancelled.

Green County remains the number one team in the region. They will travel to Caverna at some point this week, (originally on Monday, now scheduled for Tuesday) for an All A first round matchup and also district game. The last time those two teams played, they had the unfortunate incident that led to both teams having players suspended. The winner of that game will play Washington County in the semi-finals. The semi-finals and finals will be played at Washington County.

Congratulations to Larue County, who moves up a spot to #2 in the rankings this week. They repeated as 2A sectional champions with wins over Lincoln County and Russell County. They will now play in the 2A state tournament a little later this month.

Adair County drops a spot, as they lose to Russell County in the 2A sectional. That loss to me is somewhat unexplainable. I have heard that they were dealing with sickness from players and coaches, but Loy had 24 and Cochran had 16 points respectively, so I’m just not sure what happened there.

North Hardin got a nice win over district foe Central Hardin. North is firmly in control of the 17th district right now. Central Hardin drops several spots this week as they have lost 3 in a row.

Green squeaks by Caverna 51-49 tonight on the road.  Caverna is no pushover this season.

Agree, they're drop in rankings right now, is a combination of a few losses without some players and also other teams winning. They were in my pre-season top 5 and I expect by end of season, they'll be right back there.

And from what I can tell, they’re mostly juniors.
