Madison Central took their lumps last season.  Coach Allen Feldhaus had a very young roster and his Indians struggled to a 10-23 record, but did make it to the 11th Region Tournament.  The good news is that Madison Central returns all but 2 players from last year's team, and they add a talented transfer from Mason County, with a familiar last name, in junior big man Jake Feldhaus.  They'll be making the trip to Somerset to open up their season against the 12th Region favorites Pulaski County.  The Maroons are the 2 time defending 12th Region champions, and are looking to make it 3 in a row.  They have won the last 4 matchups in this series, but all 4 victories have been by single digits.  Who starts off the season 1-0?

Any word if this game is still happening with Pulaski being out of school today? 

Confirmed with AD at Pulaski. Freshman at 5pm, JV at 6pm and Varsity at 7:30.

Madison Central was led by Luke Asher with 16 points.  Newcomer Jake Feldhaus added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Will Richardson chipped in with 13 points.

I was impressed by Coach Feldhaus's halftime adjustments.  Carson Fraley was carrying Pulaski in the first half primarily by backing his man down and using his size to get to the block for a half hook.  He's very good at it and in the second half Madison Central put a man on him who was big enough to keep him from getting to where he wanted to be.  Plus, they flashed a help man toward him when he started to try to get him to kick the ball out.  

Fun game to watch! There were lots of fouls called, and Pulaski only played seven despite foul trouble. I watched on Maroon Sports Network.. those guys are something else!

I’d say that it won’t be long until Anderson and Idlewine start playing significant minutes.  Anderson is one of the better players on the roster and once he makes the adjustment from football he’ll help them.
