Breathitt County 50 Danville 0

Featured Replies

Breathitt County (4-5, 2-1) clinches the district's #2 seed for the playoffs and moves closer to .500 by blowing out Danville (0-9, 0-2) at home.  The Bobcats wore down the Ads with a dual running attack from freshman Eli Thomas (1 touchdown) and junior Jayden Gibson (2 touchdowns).  That was balanced with a passing attack that also went over 200 yards.  The Ads tried to be more pass oriented (35 passing attempts) but could not fully commit to it, deciding on a few runs in fourth down situations that went for negative yardage.

The Ads winless streak goes to 20 games.  This is the fifth time they have been shutout this year.

Both teams have their work cut out for them next week.  Danville will visit 4A Bardstown (6-3, 4-0).  Breathitt hosts undefeated 2A Prestonsburg (8-0, 2-0 going into tonight).

I think the most frustrating thing for Ads fans is not just the losing but how the team is losing.  They just aren't competitive in these games and haven't been competitive for a while.

Should also add that this loss means the Ads make another trip to Fort Mitchell to play Beechwood in round 1 of the playoffs in another one of those "How the mighty have fallen" games for fans who remember the 2003 & 2004 Class A state title matchups.

It’s crazy how far Danville has fallen. I remember back in 1993 when they had the states longest winning streak.

Something has to change at Danville. There is some promise coming up from middle school and beyond but the problem is the current staff has shown no ability to win. I know there’s the talk of kids transferring out but in today’s society kids want to win. They will go play for winners no matter the cost. Being able to be put on a different stage with winners just feels different. I feel for the current players, but the administration has to take a hard look at the coaches and see that a change has to be made. Danville once a football powerhouse is now a doormat.

Danville needs to let the whole coaching staff go.
