January 29, 200719 yr Both sides of the ball (offense & defense) should get a chance to impact the overtime period. I like the college OT. It is very exciting. Let the NFL teams kick off the overtime after the coin toss.
January 29, 200719 yr Both teams should be given a chance. This is the NFL, even if you kneel the opening kick of OT, 40 yards of offense is all it takes to potentially win the game on a FG, that's too easy. Either end the "sudden death" approach or make it more like college but with a longer field, 50 yds or so. And if you get a sack and force a punt you might only need 10 yards to get a field goal. Or better yet, get a turnover and your offense doesn't even have to take the field. I think the NFL's approach is that until the percentages show that the team with the ball first has a significant advantage, then they will likely leave it the same.
