Belfry 35 Pikeville 21

Featured Replies

Final per the update thread.

Somewhere Frank Beamer had a cold chill down his spine because the Special Teams units consistently tried to outdo each other for the most inexcusable.

Gritty effort from Belfry. The game was tied 14-14 at the Half and Belfry had less than fifty yards at the time. Belfry asserted dominance in the Second Half as they got the Fullback going and Varney made some big plays.

Hats off to much criticized Belfry defense as well. They played by far their best game of the year. Pikeville was uncharacteristically sloppy in every capacity. They made numerous critical penalties, the aforementioned Special Teams disasters, and when they needed stops late poor angles or missed tackles led to key conversions.

This tells me Belfry is a team who can make a deep push and this tells me that for the first time in a decent chunk of change, the rest of 1A has to feel the big bad bully is vulnerable.

Imo, Pikeville dominated the first half of the game, but special team breakdowns and uncharacteristic poor execution of play on the offensive side, and penalties took its toll in the second half. One positive in this game was Belfry had very little success running up the middle on Pikeville's D. Their success came on the edges primarily, with some completed passing. If Pikeville wants to be at Kroger in early December, then some corrections have got to be made.
