2024 Louisville/Metro Area Preseason Power Rankings

Recommended Posts

For those a little less familiar with power rankings, the idea behind them is to hypothetically pit every team from a group (here it's the Greater Louisville area) against every other team in the group, regardless of size or classification. You form your rankings by saying if you took every single team in the group, in that snapshot of a moment, and if you were able to have each team play each other team right then, then which team would prove to be the best by wins, and so on down the line.

So now that we're just under 3 weeks away from football season kicking off, what are you thinking in terms of preseason power rankings for the 51 football teams in the Greater Louisville area? Who else fits into the Top 5 aside from Trinity, Male and St. X? What's your Top 10 look like? ...are you plugged into things enough to take a guess at #11 through #20 teams in the area?

Not a bad take. I think you're probably about right about most of the talent gaps, although I'd probably lump Central in with Central Hardin, Pleasure Ridge Park, and Atherton. Your Top 3, though, are you saying you think Manual is going to beat Male this year for the first time since 2013?

Preseason rankings. Once the Male/Manual game rolls around the Bulldogs may well have put things together well enough to win it. But going into the beginning of the season I think Manual has more pieces remaining in place from last year in terms of seasoned talent.

I agree with CWB, not a bad looking list.  I do believe the talent gap between 4 and 5 is not as wide as thought, although CAL's talent is young.  As far as 8-10, I think it could be any number of teams honestly.  I look for teams like South Oldham, North Oldham and Collins to have good enough years to be considered for those spots and especially Fern Creek.  Look for Fern Creek to have a pretty good year and I believe they will win a few games this year that many think they would lose going into the season.  They return a lot of talent from last year's team.
