Strong Storms Possible this afternoon into Thursday

Thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon and continue through the evening. A few storms could produce damaging winds. Lightning is a hazard in all thunderstorms.

The level 2 threat area has been moved north, closer to the Ohio River. This appears to be only a heavy rain and possibly damaging wind event.

The lightning intensity map is from 5 to 11 pm EDT. This shows where the stronger storms could form.

We certainly need the rain in NKY.  I think it has been close to two weeks since we have had anything beyond a short sprinkle.

We need it too. We planted  a tree last month and it's so dry here in Richmond that I've gone to putting a 5-gallon bucket of water on it every day to try and save it.

I am not on that level but I have been watering my flowers.

At least down here, NWS is calling for a chance of rain everyday next week, from Monday to Saturday.
