I've also been involved in investigating enough internal theft cases that the total amount stated publicly, is probably less (and in a lot of cases, MUCH less) than the actual amount stolen.

 Agreed, I also spent years in internal investigations with my company. The charged amount is always the number that you can prove and seek restitution on.

It works out to around $1,400 a month...nice side hustle.

I had someone ask me semi-recently if I knew what ever happened with this. Looks like it's working its way to being wrapped up at this point. Allison Morris initially entered a not-guilty plea back in June '24, but then a couple of weeks ago she changed to a guilty plea as part of a plea deal for the class C felony.

Per the article, "...commonwealth prosecution officially recommended five years and $20,000 in restitution to be paid to the chamber when the guilty plea is submitted. The commonwealth now leaves jail time and probation to the discretion of the court."

The article goes on to say, "When asked by Judge Kevin D. Bishop to describe what she did during the alleged period, Morris gave the following statement to the court: “I took some money that wasn’t mine during a bad time of my life.”

The hearing for her sentencing is scheduled for late April.

The hearing for her sentencing was supposed to take place back on April 22. I haven't seen anything about sentencing yet, but I'm assuming there was a postponement there.

Per the Paducah Sun, it looks like she was given 5 years probation including 100 hours of community service and she is also required "to submit with the Probation and Parole Office for a substance abuse evaluation"...so I'm not positive whether or not that is saying she has a substance abuse problem, or that the terms of probation include mandatory drug testing, which would seem pretty standard during probation. She also agreed as part of her plea bargain to pay $20,000 in restitution to the chamber of commerce, which the article says has been paid in full since January.

The WPSD article quoted above didn't say whether the state's prosecution team recommended 5 year of jail time or 5 years of probation...it just said "prosecution officially recommended five years" but I'm kind of assuming that the recommendation was probation.
