Glasgow 36 Barren County 35 (2OT)

Didn’t see this posted yet, but have to admit after Monroe shellacked Barren last week that I thought this would be a pretty dominant win for Glasgow considering the expectations they have.

That’s not to take anything away from BC. Great ball control game plan that was almost executed so perfectly it led to a victory.

I have concerns going forward in to district play for Glasgow now that I probably didn’t have a week ago. Maybe it was just an off week due to an emotional rivalry game being renewed.

They take on Adair County next and if we base it off this I believe I’m going to have to take the Indians.

Rivalry or not this was a shocking score

I guess I don’t understand the shocking part of it Glasgow wasn’t ranked or barely ranked in most polls playing a school that really wanted to win. Glasgow had a lot of drops including at least one where the receiver was running down the field and would’ve certainly scored and they had a ton of penalties. Barren played to keep the ball away from Glasgow’s offense and it worked to perfection congrats to them on a good game. The same Monroe team you mention Glasgow beat by four touchdowns and shut them out. Adair won by 22 might be a pretty good game between the two, but again it’s not like Glasgow was a favorite to win state and lost to some horrible team. They go out and try to win every game and so far they have so let’s line up and play.

Glasgow's play was rather sloppy.  Penalties, a bunch of dropped passes and some off target throws hindered their offense.  Basically a complete opposite from the Allen County-Scottsville game.  You'll have those from time to time.  Glasgow also has real issue with pass defense, and sealing off the edges.  Barren County isn't a terrible team, plus throw in the rivalry factor (this was the first Glasgow/Barren game since 2016), so you had the perfect storm for a classic.  Glasgow will be fine if they can stay consistent on offense and not let Wide Receivers get open 30 yards in the backfield.  District play should be rather competitive and fun to watch.

I think the Monroe Co win over Barren actually hurt Glasgow it made them think Barren was the same old team and they ain’t they are better and a lot more capable. I think Barren took Monroe for granted and then Glasgow took Barren for granted. You could tell in the pre game Glasgow was not sharp they were dropping passes and the throws were behind the guys and they were even dropping punts they were just not focused.
