Somerset 28 Russell County 24

Featured Replies

Down 24 to 21 with under 30 seconds to go Somerset blocks a punt that goes out on the 31. Two plays later they score on a pass to the endzone to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat.

The Lakers seem to have more energy and fire in them all night, but just couldn't close the deal in the last 30 seconds.

Coach Ford of Russell County is a beloved member of the Briar Jumper family and I almost hated for us to pull this one out. This win would have been a big one for his program. I wish nothing but success the rest of the way.

Congrats to Coach Clevenger on his first win as a Jumper.

The sky should have told us who would win...I think everyone that saw that sky tonight thought Coach Lucas was there tonight, checking on his boys.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect this game to be anywhere near this close, and from the description you gave, sounds like they more than likely should have lost this game.

I Especially felt this way after Russell County was blown out by Adair County last week.
Football is a wild sport, and that’s why matchups matter and you lace them cleats up every week.

Congrats to the Briar Jumpers.

I also didn't think this game would be close.

Weird start to the season for Somerset.  Wild finish at the end of last week's game and this week's is the same story, except this time it was in its favor!
