The mission’s commander, Reid Wiseman, will be joined by Victor Glover, an African American naval aviator; Christina Koch, who holds the world record for the longest spaceflight by a woman; and Canada’s Jeremy Hansen, a former fighter pilot and the crew’s lone space rookie. Wiseman, Glover and Koch have all lived on the International Space Station. All four are in their 40s.

The crew will complete the first manned lunar orbits in nearly 50 years in preparation for later missions to the Moon's service. The flight will take place at the earliest late 2024. I personally think this is exciting times for NASA and space travel.

This stuff excites me.  Let's get that Moon Base built.

Meet the astronauts who will fly around the Moon and back.

The #Artemis II crew consists of NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.

These astronauts are preparing to take the next giant leap — paving the way for future lunar landings and human exploration of Mars.

I will add, we have to do it again, the space race is in full swing and we have to be first.

Luckily, some of the men that helped do it the first time are still alive (Gene Krantz, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin and some others) and those doing it today can draw on their knowledge.   With the advancements in computers between the mid to late 60's to now, portions of this process should be easier, but it doesn't make it more safe.  It's still a dangerous proposition.  Do it first and do it right.
