This enhanced wording in a Tornado Watch is meant to alert the public of the potential for very life-threatening severe weather. While there are no set criteria for a PDS watch to be issued, they are usually issued when the potential exists for a major tornado outbreak.

PDS, that is a new one, thanks nWo.

These are only issued if they expect strong, long-track tornadoes to form. In other words they are fully expecting tornado outbreak especially in western Kentucky.

Gotcha.  For me it is keeping up with all the acronyms in life.  This one had me thinking PTSD, PBS, PEDS, etc. 🤷‍♀️
