North Laurel vs. Corbin Predictions/Updates (13th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

This game will take place Monday night at 7:00 at the arena. WYMT will have a like broadcast of this game. Let’s talk about how they got here.

They say it’s hard to beat a team three times in a season. North Laurel said old timers sayings don’t matter. The Jags had beat the Cards by 14, 17, and then had to one up themselves and they beat them by 19 in the semi’s. After getting the first game jitters out of the way North looked much more poised and played like a team that many thought would dominate the 13th. To beat Corbin they’re going to have to do what they’ve been doing. Get their big three going, then have guys like Colton Rawlings and Brody Brock take advantage of when teams help off. Gavin Chadwell won’t have the height advantage that he’s used to as Corbin has the size in the post to hang with him. But we all know this team goes as Reed makes them go. It will be exciting to see him in his final 13th region game.

The Redhounds had the biggest upset thus far of the tournament and had no let down as they took care of Barbourville quick by a score of 58-34. The hounds are familiar with North, as these two played Feb. 17th and NL walked away with a 21 point victory. Corbin’s backcourt really struggled in this game as they went 7-32. To win this game Corbin is going to need more efficient game play from their back court. Llewellyn, Stewart, Elam, and Curry don’t have to match Reed and Davidson, but they also can’t let them dominate them. Marc Warren has the height and Brody Wells has the strength to play with Chadwell in the post and should be able to neutralize that threat. (Fun fact all 3 of those players started at Knox Central). I wouldn’t be fooled by the 21 loss a few weeks ago, because Corbin is playing better than they have all year.

Can Reed keep the jaguars going and put together a run at his future home, Rupp Arena? Will Corbin play spoiler one more time and unseat the Jags as the defending 13th region champ? We will find out Monday night at 7!
