Wonder if they will now play half an inning with Angel Hernandez at every base, to see which is more effective.

I initially read more into this than there was.  Technically, the game was over so the umpires left.  The two teams, on their own, wanted to play an extra half inning to give some players more work.  It's a practice game!  If this had happened in a regular season game, then you would have had a real story.

Yeah.  They agreed before the start to play the bottom of the 9th, even if not needed.   But no one told the umps and they left the field.

Thank god the LaRussa era Cardinals weren't involved.   That half inning would have taken a month with all the whining they'd do.
