8th Region Week 11 Review

There were 5 games tonight in the 8th region, 4 of them being against opponents outside of the region. and we went a solid 2-2 against the other regions. Spencer County and Eminence picked up the win, Anderson County and Trimble County with the losses.

On another note, Walton-Verona made a huge statement tonight to Grant County that they will not be an easy feat in the first round of the 32nd District Tournament with a 106-36 dominating win over Carroll County. The Bearcats were 2 points away from scoring 70 points in the first half, higher than around half of the 8th region schools average in the entirety of a game. WV has now clipped the century mark 3 times this season. Only 2 other schools (Spencer County and North Oldham) have scored 100 points in a game this season, and each of them have only done it once.

There is no doubt WV can score the basketball, but can they guard well enough to get in the region and make a run?

  • Incredible work on those graphics! I think I'm going North Oldham, Collins, (SK, Owen, Spencer, Grant), Woodford, WV, Oldham, South Oldham.

I wouldn’t sleep on the other team out of the 29th… either one will be more experienced in a regional-type atmosphere than anyone on their side.

Good point. The 29th district runner-up has won the 8th region multiple times.

Clearly, the 8th Region game of the week - maybe the year - and maybe the top game in the state this week is TUESDAY NIGHT (Valentine's Day).

At North Oldham....

#4 ranked North Oldham vs. #14 Collins

It's a boy/girl doubleheader, but the boys' game is FIRST.   Tipoff is at 6 pm ET.  (pregame show at 5:30 pm - free live hi-def video coverage on www.pegasussportsky.com)

By far the 8th region game of the year. I believe you and I talked about it all the way back in December, and it is even bigger than expected!

Could very well be the 8th Region championship preview....(though I imagine Woodford County, Simon Kenton, Owen County, Grant County, Spencer County, Oldham County, and others will have a say in that.... ?  )

It is now 100% certain, North Oldham is the best team in the region. Pretty boring night tonight, just one game where Shelby County travels to play Eastern.

Actions picks back up tomorrow night, 8 games within the region are scheduled.

So…

Hypothetically, if Collins doesn’t make it to regionals.  Who is your pick to make it to the regional finals to face North Oldham?  I’m going with Owen County as long as they are in the opposite side of the bracket from North.

What do you all think?

I did not know the 30th is at Woodford. I read in another thread it was at Shelby.

Lol, I just checked again and according to the KHSAA bracket the tournament will be played at Woodford County.

South Oldham, Owen County, Grant County, North Oldham, all on ? heading to District play!

Owen will be incredibly difficult to play if they use the transfer from Gallatin to put along with what they already have and by adding the talent this kid has,it would be very fun to watch and scary for anyone in the 8th region to play!
