I know I'm in the minority, but I'm glad they didn't strap this franchise down in an unreal market. "Playing the game" is going to be very costly for a lot of teams as this free agent class unfolds. Guys like Milton are not what we needed...

I understand your point but also not sure that the Reds have done anything substantial to address their issues. The fans seemed to be left with the premise that for the Reds to contend we need:

 

1)down regular season for the Cardinals again;

2)Milton comes around and has a strong season;

3)Weathers or Coffey does this year what they could not do last year;

4)Jr stays healthy

5)Dunn makes contact and fields the ball

6)The bullpen somehow corrects itself.

 

Doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm actually surprised the Reds didn't get another 40 year old arm and put it in the bullpen. I know their payroll is low and they can't go out and spend money left and right, but what is bringing in a bunch of washed up relievers good for?

 

The Reds struggled to score runs in the second half of the season and if Dunn or Griffey get hurt, the Reds actually may struggle just scoring A RUN a game.

 

I'm not a Reds fan, but living in this area and watching them everyday last season, I credit Wayne for "trying". But picking up Minnesota cast offs isn't going to get it done.

 

Sad thing is, aside from the phenom pitcher in the minors, I don't think they have any power or any other MAJOR prospects right now.

I am not real excited about their moves to this point. There are way to many "What If's" for this team right now. I am anxiously waiting to see if Krivsky pulls off any trades that are significant, I think he might!!!

I would take two relievers and call them at spring training, too.

Another pointless Krivsky trade. Although this players stats in Triple A aren't bad, I don't really understand what he's trying to do, we need PITCHING not average infielders, but we'll see how this summer goes.
