More like a football score.

Neither team shoots well (FG/3FG/FT) pregame - Iroquois 19/15/33, Jtown 27/27/36.

Iroquois has 10 players total in their entire program - Frosh/JV/Varsity, and the school has 5A enrollment numbers for football. See Lady Raiders roster below ~

Just nice to see a team get off the schneid. 🏆

GBB is dying on the vine.

Other sports gets first crack at kids.

The sport is hard as you have to run and make contact.

There are a lot of teams where numbers are WAY down.

Maybe a good topic for a new thread, but to follow up ...

I think the KHSAA used to calculate gross participation numbers for each school as part of their yearly enrollment audits.

I don't know if it's a GBB issue specifically, but across all sports in the JCPS, participation and opportunity are in a no win cycle.

Did a quick search on Iroquois girls sports and total roster spots (last spring noted), and again they are a "5A" school. Numbers drop dramatically after sophomore year.

Cross Country - 1, need minimum of five to score as a team to advance out of region.

Soccer - 17, all varsity.

Volleyball, 12, varsity and JV combined.

Golf - 3, need five to score as a team to advance out of region.

Cheer - 11, all varsity.

Basketball - 10, all varsity.

Track and Field (last spring) - 4

Softball (last spring) - 0

Tennis (last spring) - 0

For 2022-23 Iroquois did or will not offer the following girls sports or activities:

• Field Hockey, Swimming, Softball, Lacrosse

• Archery, Bowling, Dance, E-sports, Fishing

I've looked at numbers from other JCPS schools in the past and I think the numbers above could be plugged into any non-6A school. If a family/student doesn't have a track into "Traditional" schools - Butler and Male, can test into or has connections to get into Manual, or live in the more affluent "resides" areas - Ballard, Eastern, or really any 6A school you have very limited options. I noted in another thread it's a shame many in Jefferson County literally have to "pay to play" in many sports at private schools because of lack of opportunities at the publics.
