Raceland 32 Lawrence County 7

Featured Replies

Raceland looked dominate, on the defensive side of the ball.  Lawrence County couldn't ever get the offense flowing.  Raceland worked on the run game mostly on offense, by committee, utilizing four running backs plus a good number of QB keepers.  Dominating performance by the Rams.

Raceland heading into the playoffs with a 9-1 record with the only loss coming to Highlands by 10 points.

Lawrence County goes into the playoffs with a 8-2 record, losing to Greenup County and Raceland and going 1-2 against Greenup County schools after beating Russell earlier in the season.

Great seasons by both schools.

Hazard lost to Shelby Valley by one point.  Raceland beats a good Lawrence County.  Could Raceland move past Hazard in the RPI to be assured homes games for the first four playoff games?  Could change a lot.

Raceland showing ahead of Hazard.

Really?  I wasn't sure if it would make enough difference.

Thanks Bac.

Apparently, Raceland goes from two sure home playoff games to four and wouldn't play Pikeville until the State Championship Game.  Big swing for the Rams.

Yea, I don't understand the RPI very well, so I don't know how it will change.  I'm just taking your word for it and I will complain to the KHSAA if it is not what you said it should be. lol

Yes. Please do. I also don’t understand how things changes without scores being posted.

Julian,

I don't know what's going on, but the RPI is not correct.  Bac2369 said Raceland should have moved ahead of Hazard and he is pretty smart with numbers and such.  You may want to go ahead and just change that stuff to what Bac said.

Sincerely,

Ram

Wouldn’t Hazard and Raceland meet in second round regardless due to districts trading in playoffs?

If so even as RPI 3 seed they would be home throughout and not play Pikeville till Lexington.

I don't think so, but maybe.  Raceland is paired with the district 5 #4 team in the first round.  I would assume they would play a D5/D6 winning team in round two, then it would go to the RPI standings.  But, I may be wrong on that.

Hazard will play Pineville first round. Williamsburg will be waiting and the game will be at Williamsburg because Hazard is the 2 seed from District 7 and Williamsburg is the 1 seed from District 8. (IF) Hazard wins both games then 3rd round is based on RPI rankings of the 4 winners from the East and 4 winners from the West. Those winners will be reshuffled again with East and West not mattering in round 4.
