These two teams started playing in 1926 and it ran through 1974.

Russell leads the overall series 26-15-7.

The largest margin of victiory that I could find was one by Raceland in 1943 by the score of 43-0 after beating the Red Devils 26-0 earlier in that same season.

Russell won games in: 1926,29,30,31,32,35,36,37,38,40,44,45,51,52,54,55,56,59,60,62,67,70,71,72,73, and 74.

Raceland won in 1933,42,43 (twice),46,47,48,49,50,53,57(oldramblers birth year:ylsuper: ), 61,64,65 and 69.

The two tied in 1934,39,41,58,63,66 and 68

Thanks to cvillecat and his 17 family members that that have played for the Ramblers and Rams through the years that have helped in finding this info.

I hope these are accurate and listed properly, the OldRamblers fingers and brain are tired after all of this, I need a nap.:D

Great information, thanks oldrambler.

This was John Norman's idea, I don't know if that will be the final name or not. Stop in and tell John your idea, maybe he will like it better.

I can cetainly believe that Ram. ..................and that's all I had better say about that.:D I won't be stopping in though bc I don't shop there.

Great information, thanks oldrambler.

No problem Ram :thumb: . I always try to post info on Raceland and promote the Raceland teams and kids, you have been coming up with some good info and post yourself.

Needs Lawrence County on that schedule.

That would be nice to see again, the two have certainly had some real battles in the past. Maybe if the Raceland/Ashland series is discontinued something could be worked out. I don't know how much truth is in it but I did hear that after this season if Ashland wouldn't agree to a home and home series that this one would be the last. I am not sure on that though.

I am trying to do the same, promote the players and team they deserve it. Besides, when you have been around Raceland Football as long as some of us have, you have to remember some stuff.

Good to see so many Raceland people on here, doing what we do.

Alot of people would. I have many memories of some great games. I would love to see the game back on the schedule. Lawrence Co. and Raceland has always had a good relationship.

I saw Billy Goldsmith at Bill Tom Ross's B-day party, he told some old stories of Raceland and Lawrence Co. and brought back some great memories.

I bet he charges the school for the trophy. I dont know what has happened to the gentlemen i used to hear about but the last couple of conversations I have had with other people they have said he has changed and wasnt supporting Raceland anymore. Dont want to be negative but it was on good authority.

The secret is to get stuff from his wife. We have bought the JFL trophies from them for years, his wife always takes care of us.

He seems to have been in a bad mood the last several times I have spoke with him. I don't know if there is problems down the road or what.

:thumb: I certainly agree! I have had several people around RamLand say the same thing.

I think oldram was talking about the other person in the quote.

:thumb: Oldrambler is aware of that as we speak. He deleted his previous post and explained the error.

Anyone have any ideas for a name?

Here is one idea.

I still like the "Rail Cities Classic" due to both communities ties to the railroad.

With the number of people who will be there, we could call it "The Dash for the Cash".

For you railroaders we could call it "The Roundhouse Rumble"

I like that one also.

How about "Tracks For Success Bowl"

Trophy could consist of a 2 small sections of railroad tracks with a football on top.

For you railroaders we could call it "The Roundhouse Rumble"

I like that one. How about the "Burner Shed Bash" (just kidding on that one, also for all the railroaders / CSX/C&O shops guys)
