3. Hazard vs. 2A #6 Middlesboro 

4. Newport Central Catholic vs. 6A Campbell County at Thomas More University

5. Paintsville at 3A Floyd Central 

6. Bethlehem at Providence (IN)

7. Louisville Holy Cross vs. 3A #9 Taylor County at Campbellsville (8/20)

8. Williamsburg vs. Oneida (TN)

9. Kentucky Country Day at 6A Eastern

10. Crittenden County at 2A #4 Murray

There are several solid 1A teams capable of doing something special on any given night.

With that said... unseating Pikeville is going to be a very, very tall task this year. Pikeville has the depth, size, and coaching experience of a 4A or 5A program. The Panthers have a very well rounded team that also has a handful of bigtime playmakers. 

Hazard, Raceland, Bethlehem, and maybe even NCC all enter as teams that in most years would be firmly in the mix of teams capable of winning a State Title... so it is far from a done deal.... but in the words of the great philosopher Roy D. Mercer... if you plan to take the trophy from Pikeville's hands this year "You better pack a lunch then."

I agree. There are some stiff challenges this week for the 1A top ten. We are going to find out about some teams pretty quickly. I am most interested in Pikeville/Corbin and Hazard/Middlesboro.
