March 30, 20224 yr A regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms is expected today for parts of the Ohio Valley later today into tonight. Storms are likely to be ongoing near a cold front early in the day and near a developing dry line. While instability will be relatively weak at this point, shear will be extreme with large looping hodographs (see chart below). This may favor quick tornado development without much warning within the squall line. By midday, the combination of cooling aloft and strong low-level moisture will lead to destabilization intensity. This should start to occur around 2 pm EDT. The bulk of this activity is expected to become severe as it quickly crosses the Mississippi into western Kentucky between 4-7 pm CDT. Damaging winds and tornadoes are the main threats. Severe storms will be possible for most of the rest of Kentucky tonight mainly west of I-75. Most of the intense storms are expected to occur south and west of I-165. Storms are forecast to weaken as they continue east across Kentucky. Severe weather modes expected are mainly damaging winds a couple of tornadoes.

Just wanted you to know that I appreciate you @nWo. I actually don't even check my own weather apps or local news anymore when big weather is coming. I just wait on your updates.

March 30, 20224 yr Author I'm sorry I'm a little late. I got tied up here at work. Severe storms are possible mainly west of I-75. The strongest storms look to be west of I-65. The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the level 3 Enhanced Risk Area to include portions of southwest Indiana and the Bowling Green area. The storms will lose intensity as the move eastward across Kentucky. Damaging wind gusts and quick spin up tornadoes will be possible. Hail is not really expected because the cloud tops will not reach40-50 thousand feet. The main tornado threat area will be in the Enhanced Risk Area. Even as the storms loose intensity they will still have wind gusts upwards of around 50 mph. Timing is as follows. Western Kentucky 7-10 pm EDT. Central Kentucky 10-12 am EDT. Bluegrass area 12-2 am EDT. Temps are forecast to reach close to 80° but fall to the 50's tonight. The main cold front won't pass through Kentucky until tomorrow(Thursday). Some could see some frost by Saturday morning. I will try to update everyone later this evening.
