Ryle 62 Newport Central Catholic 40 (9th Region Semifinals)

I give Coach Haitz a lot of grief, directly and indirectly, but I want to take a second to give her a TON of credit.  This game was virtually even until she broke out a 1-3-1 I've never personally seen them play before (I don't make every Ryle game, so I'm sure this has been used before) and it literally tied NewCath into knots.  I don't know off the top of my head what the scoring run was from that point, but if you told me it was 17-0 Ryle, I'd believe you.  What was shocking was in the 3rd quarter, after halftime and a chance for both coaches to re-group, she stayed in it with the same results.  Abby did a great job at the top of it, forcing Caroline or Rylee to one side with the ball, and when that ball went into a corner to someone not named Caroline or Rylee, they trapped vigorously and turned the Breds over-and-over, while forcing Ralph to burn a couple of timeouts in the process trying to prevent another live-ball turnover.

Well done, Coach Haitz!

Abby, Quinn, Austin and the crew were really good in transition last night as well, to be sure, and their ball movement against the out-manned Breds was the best I've seen from the Raiders this year.
