KlayThompson
11th Region District Review / Region Preview The District Championships started with a great game in the 44th as Madison Southern defeated Madison Central in the finals by 5 points. The Eagles quickly got up 10-0 before the Indians answered with a run of their own. This was a back-and-forth game the whole way with a great environment at the site of the regional tournament at EKU. The 3 championship games on Friday night did not disappoint. In the 41st, Great Crossing kept rolling as they defeated Western Hills. In the 42nd, Frederick Douglass defeated Henry Clay in the best game of the night. Frederick Douglass also picked up a tough win over Bryan Station in their semifinal game. In the 43rd, Lexington Catholic once again defeated Dunbar. The Bulldogs were up 34-24 before Lexington Catholic made a run to take the lead. However, I would not count out the Bulldogs in the 11th Region Tournament. The top half of the draw includes 4 of the Top 25 teams in the state with Lexington Catholic, Madison Central, Henry Clay, and Great Crossing on the same side of the bracket. Check out the rest of the schedule below and my predictions for the region! District Tournament Results 41st District: Great Crossing 65 Western Hills 50 42nd District: Frederick Douglass 57 Henry Clay 54 (Overtime) 43rd District: Lexington Catholic 47 Dunbar 44 44th District: Madison Southern 48 Madison Central 43 11th Region Schedule Tuesday 1st Round: Henry Clay at Lexington Catholic Madison Central at Great Crossing Western Hills at Frederick Douglass Dunbar At Madison Southern Friday Semi-finals at EKU 6:15 - Winner of LC/HC vs. Winner of GC/MC 8:15 - Winner of FD/WH vs. Winner of MS/PLD Monday March 7th 11th Region Finals at EKU – 7:00 Region Predictions: Lexington Catholic over Henry Clay - This could be the best first round region match-up in the whole state. These two teams have not yet this season. Based upon their body of work, I'll say Lexington Catholic is favored but I would not be surprised if the Blue Devils found a way to win this game. I'll take the Knights by 6. Madison Central over Great Crossing - Is Great Crossing ready for this moment? The only team left standing in Georgetown has had a great season, but are they ready to back it up with a win in the region? On the other side, the Indians are coming off a surprising loss to Madison Southern in their district finals. Trey Skaggs was injured on the last play of the game, and his status will definitely impact the result of this game for a thin Madison Central. If he plays, I'll take the Indians. If he doesn't I'll take Great Crossing. Indians by 8. Frederick Douglass over Western Hills - Frederick Douglass comes into the region looking to make it back to EKU. Frederick Douglass came up just short last season in the finals of the regional tournament. They seem to be playing their best basketball with the dynamic duo of Simpson and Barrett. Western Hills can not be overlooked however. They played a tough schedule and picked up solid wins all season long. They have the size down low that could really cause problems for Douglass. I'll take Frederick Douglass by 5. Dunbar over Madison Southern - Coming off a big win in their district finals, Madison Southern looks to cement their place in the region with another statement win. Although their record is better, I'd say many people will predict Dunbar to beat the Eagles on their home court. The match-up of Nick Spalding vs. Jay Rose is worth the price of admission to this one. Both guards are strong and athletic and look to attack the rim. I'll take Dunbar by 10. Lexington Catholic over Madison Central Dunbar over Douglass Lexington Catholic over Dunbar 11th Region Rankings 1. Lexington Catholic – 26-5 2. Great Crossing 26-6 3. Madison Southern – 20-11 4. Frederick Douglass – 17-14 5. Henry Clay – 24-8 6. Madison Central – 20-11 7. Dunbar – 14-12 8. Western Hills – 15-14

LethalPG
From the outside looking in, it looks like Freddy D to win now. However, we all know the others will have something to say about that.

I don't know much about Great Crossing but the Warhawks have won 12 of their last 13, have wins over Henry Clay and Madison Southern, and just a three-point loss to Douglass. I believe fans of at least three and maybe all four can go to Richmond thinking they've got a very good shot at winning the title.

Agree, Freddy D just seems to be peaking to me and they fell one game short last season. That experience of failure can often times fuel a team.
