Purple88 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Greenwood vs Bowling Green 2.0 (Playoff Round) It will be 21 days between games for these two nearby schools. The first game saw Greenwood come into the game with quite a bit of swagger and talk from what I'm told. The game unfolded with BG really never being threatened with a 38-8 BG win to extend the BG win streak vs Greenwood. Put simply, this is a bad matchup for Greenwood, as they are a running team and BG is built to stop their run. When that's taken away, Greenwood isn't built to offer much else from the offensive side of the ball. Since these two met, Greenwood lost to South Warren 42-14; then rebounded nicely with a good win against a decent 6A Apollo team 20-0, which was a really nice effort from the Gator defense as well. For Bowling Green, they went to Christian County and played every kid on the roster in a 37-0 win. Then returned home and lost 27-0 to the second best team in the state St. Xavier. So they have sort of criss-crossed with wins and losses since they met. So what will be different in this game or some perspective going into it: 1. This game is at Bowling Green. That helps Bowling Green more IMO as the field conditions should be a constant for both teams. 2. For Greenwood, I don't think you can play worse than you did before. You turned it over multiple times and couldn't move the ball. You had 53 rushing yards and that includes against the second team. Just go for broke, you have nothing to lose. 3. For Bowling Green, you need to get back on the plus side. You didn't play as poorly as the scoreboard suggests against St X, but that's been the case most, if not all season. Can you put a clean game together? No poor snaps; no excessive penalties; can you cover kicks for one full game; etc. It's just been that kind of season for the Purples. While I expect Greenwood to play better, this is still a 35-7 BG game most of the time. What say you? 1
Killowatt59 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 The Greenwood folks were talking some trash prior to the regular season meeting a few weeks ago. Because of their record they honestly thought they were favored and had a lot of hope. But hope don't float on fraudulent records. When you play mostly lower class and bad teams you can schedule wins. I think Greenwood found that out. I don't think you'll hear much trash talking this week out Scottsville Road after BG beat them down 38-8 in the last meeting. I would expect more of the same this week. Maybe even worse since it's at Bowling Green.
Tigerpride94 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 I don't see Greenwood doing much against BG defense so BG wins comfortably like previous meeting.
