Pikeville junior running back Blake Birchfield. He's the best player on the best team and has the numbers to back it up. He ran for 1,491 yards and 14 touchdowns on 8.3 yards a carry against eight ranked opponents. LCA has allowed 68 yards per contest on the ground outside of the Pikeville game. Birchfield gashed them for 255. He's well on his way to joining Deramus, Hackney, Coleman, Chapman, and Pugh in the pantheon of great Pikeville backs. Just a junior. We'll see and hear his name a lot next year, as well as this year's playoffs.

Birchfield vs. LCA

From the standpoint of numbers alone, it's hard to overlook Davontaye Saunders of Eminence - over 2,300 yards from scrimmage and 38 touchdowns plus 90 tackles and 5 sacks. He's been a horse this year and definitely deserves some pub here.

I seen him play against Metcalfe and the Hornets are a pretty solid team defensively but they had no answer for this kid once he gets outside there’s no catching him.

Loaded question because everyone would go to stats to prove this.  While stats are the foremost proof, I would like to also consider what the coaches would say about those individuals.  For instance, I would suggest David Govan, or Kaleb Luke's both from Brossart.  Both of these cats work their tails off, behind the scenes. And get the job done.

Both of these guys deserve accolades.
