Kentucky Regional Finals for Regions 1 -16, Preview/Updates

Instead of me having fun with only covering the 9th Region tournament, I thought I would show some love with all the other Regional Tournaments across the state.

There are 2 teams that have already punched their ticket to the State Tournament and 9 MORE will punch their ticket tonight.

Here is the run down of what is ahead for the next few nights.  Here are a few keys to the codes, DC = Defending Region Champ from last season, the Ranking is based on this past Sundays Maher Ranking.

• #50 EAST CARTER beat #82 FLEMING, 3-0
  • RUSSELL (DC) was beat in the Semi’s by East Carter, 4-1

REGION 2:

• #29 Henderson County knocks off reigning Region Champ #34 Madisonville-North Hopkins in a offensive high scoring game, 6-4

REGION 3:

• #32 Ohio County beats reigning Region Champ #21 Owensboro Catholic, 2-1

REGION 4:

• #7 Bowling Green beats reigning Region Champ #10 Greenwood, 2-1

REGION 5:

• #12 Bardstown beats #5 Bethlehem, 3-2

REGION 8:

• #3 South Oldham shuts out #30 North Oldham, 3-0

REGION 12:

• #15 West Jess beats #49 Southwestern, 2-0

REGION 14:

• NR ESTILL County sneaks past NR Letcher County-Central, 1-0

REGION 15:

• #66 Johnson Central defeats reigning Region Champ #37 Prestonburg, 2-1

There were 2 Semfinal games last night in the 11th Region here are those results:

#22 Henry Clay blanks #52 Madison Southern, 2-0

Boy that top half; lower quarter of the bracket is a real bear!

#4 or #8 out of Region 7 vs #12 Bardstown!

Not wanting to put the cart before the horse, clearly we've seen on the Boys' side that anything can happen, but if you're a Notre Dame fan, you have to be ecstatic with that draw...right?  11th winner will be work, to be sure, but beyond that game the Panda's (if they get by Dixie) would be huge favorites in every game until the Championship game...right?

Yes, sorry, I did mean Highlands (sorry @FrankNicodemus), and okay.  I'll move that cart back around the back of the horse.

However, does the larger point ring true for either the Birds or the Pandas?  The 9th has to like their draw, right?

Well the Region Championships wrapped up last night.  We also had 1 finish on Friday to update.  Here are the final 5 that punched their tickets in the last 2 nights.

Region 6:

• Mercy survives in Double OT to beat Whitefield Academy, 2-1

Region 7:

• Sacred Heart has to win in PKs over Assumption, 2-1

Region 9:

• NDA wins against my Birds, 4-0

Region 10:

• Campbell County beats Brossart for the 3rd time this year, 2-0

Region 11:

• Lex Cath handles Henry Clay, 3-1

 

There you go.  Regional week is over.  Now onto State for these Sweet 16.
