The right to host a first round playoff game is probably on the line when Fern Creek travels to Bullitt East this Friday.  Male will most likely win the district and Southern will most likely lose to Bullitt East and Fern Creek.  The offense of Bullitt East is humming but still giving up the big play through the air.

Bullitt East is 5-1 with their only loss coming to a good Graves County team with a missed fg with seconds on the clock.

Fern Creek comes in at 4-3 but the combined record of the four teams they have beaten are 2-23.

Bullitt East should score a bunch and the defense should stop them enough to win.  But the teams were pretty evenly matched last year and Fern Creek ran away with the victory, 41-14.  Bullitt East just doesn't seem to play this team well.

All that being said I think the Chargers take care of business and win by at least 14.

Can Bullitt East get over the hump and finally beat Fern Creek?  Two years ago, Fern Creek was without a doubt the better team, but Bullitt East almost knocked them off at BE.  It took a 97 yard TD run with under 2 minutes to go for Fern Creek to beat BE.  They actually both scored 3 TDs in the game, but the difference was Fern Creek hit all of their XPs.  Last year, I think they were close on talent, but Fern Creek beat BE handily in the regular season.  I think BE would have beaten Fern Creek the 2nd time around in the playoffs as they simply were playing better than Fern Creek at the time, but Fern Creek had to forfeit due to Covid.  Anyway, this one will not be about the BE offense.  The offense will score; it will just be a question if the BE defense can hold the Fern Creek run game in check.  Fern Creek runs the ball about 80-85% of the time.  Can their athleticism bust enough big plays against the BE defense?  Fern Creek is struggling offensively right now so I don't think they drive the ball on BE.  I think it's simply if BE can limit the big plays, not through the air, but on the outside against the run.  I think they do.  I think Fern Creek comes out strong, but East settles down and wins this one comfortably in the end.  After the Graves County loss, I said I liked BE's chances to rattle off 5 straight wins and head into the Male game at 7-1.  I still do.  Side note, BE needs one more win for their 1st winning season since 2014 and only their 3rd winning season since 2008.
