Seton (OH) 7 Highlands 3 (Preseason scrimmage)

Featured Replies

Was Seton that good?  When the 1's were in was it more even?  Typically alot of subbing in preseason scrimmage.  Obviously seems odd, as I don't think HHS surrendered 7 goals all last year.

Yes Seton looked good and YES it was a preseason scrimmage so A LOT of players played (especially in the 1st Half) which is when the score got ugly. I think it was 5-1 at half.

2 things caught my attention that needs to be fixed asap:

1. The back line for Highlands is in serious “work in progress” mode, we LOST A LOT OF TALENT from last year so they need to quickly figure things out on that front FAST!

2. Our attackers need to read up on what Offside is.  Way to many possible attacks surrendered b/c of being to aggressive when Seton was playing a high line to get Highlands to be in Offside position.

Other than that it was good to play a quality opponent to show what we need to improve on instead of getting a false sense of where we currently stand.

Go BIRDS!!!!

So is Highlands employing a similar style as the last several years or is this an entirely new system that the girls are trying to learn on the fly?  I agree that scrimmages are what they are, but giving up 7 goals is alarming and 5 in first half is even more alarming.

Totally agree with your first point. Can’t stress how much talent was lost; especially on the defensive side that you are referencing. When you lose girls like Greta Noble and McKenzie Nehus (among others) who had been defensive mainstays for years, it is going to show. Hopefully, the younger girls can fill those shoes.
