Recommended Posts

Final from Legends Field per Eric Chumbler.

Ben Higdon and Jack Bennett homered as the No. 4 Mustangs scored early and often in support of frosh pitcher Russ Aldridge.

The victory sends McCracken Co. (34-5) to it's fifth consecutive semi-final.

😄 Yikes! The Mustang's will face the winner of tonight's No. 2 Danville vs. No. 9 Lafayette, Friday in Lexington.

McCracken Co.: 2-6-4 0-1 \ 13

ML Collins_____: 0-0-2 0-0 \ 2

UK PR staffer Corey Price did a data dive and discovered Mc Cracken Co. is the third team, after Ashland and Elizabethtown, to make five consecutive semi-finals appearances.

Below is the "KHSAA Baseball State Championship Game History." The 1960 State championship team @Joe Tracy alludes to is county rival Paducah Tilghman.

State finalist teams from the1st Region include:

1956 Murray

1960 Paducah Tilghman - State Champion

1963 Lone Oak*

1970 Paducah Tilghman

1974 Paducah Tilghman

1979 Murray

(* Lone Oak, Heath, and Reidland High Schools consolidated to form McCracken Co. HS in 2013.)

1 hour ago, Joe Tracy said:

Never in the history of Kentucky High School Baseball has a team reach the final 4 teams 5 years in a row. It's been 61 years since anyone from the 1st region has won the State Title.

It has actually happened two other times, but it hadn't happened since the late-1970s. I believe Eric Chumbler on twitter had researched as far back as the KHSAA scoreboard site would allow.
