My vote is obviously for Mac. He knows how to get the most out of his players and he has surrounded himself with great assistants over the years.

That is a great list...While #2 and 3 are impressive they are at 4A schools and have more to choose from... Not sure how big Green County is but to coach for 43 years and to make it to 1000 wins is unbelievable. Of course Coach Whitaker is my favorite...but the most impressive to me may be Coach Adkins just because he did it at a Single A school.

I like Mac, he makes me laugh. Gets on his kids to the point where some feel it's abusive, but the kids will go to war for him.

 

Anybody know what ever happened to Richardson? He had some very good teams while I was in school. Mythical national champion - that's pretty impressive.

Richardson was a gem. Mac is Mac. So my vote is for a tie.

And the funny thing about Mac vs Miller is that Harrison has won something like 9 out of 10 times that they played. The only time they lost was in the State when HCHS had a 5-3 lead in the last inning with 2 outs and the Harrison pitcher pounded on his chest and PRP rallied to win in something like 13 innings. Harrison has owned PRP in head to head battles, but there is no doubt that Bill Miller is a good coach.

Gene VanHoose from Owensboro High School-The Red Devils Head Coach would have to be listed in the top 5 Baseball Coaches of all time. The retired coach is a very respected coach by all his peers with 2 State titles at Owensboro. I was lucky to have been on his 1st team at Clark Co. Big mistake for Clark Co for letting him leave. Great man, great father and a better friend!!!!

Mac Whitaker does more with the younger kids in Harrison Co. than most coaches care to. I remeber playing softball at River Park on saturdays and seeing Mac hit balls to the kids playing T-ball and giving instruction all day. That's why the 'Breds have good teams year in, year out.
