Tournament Referees

From the games that I have watched, it seems as if the Refs have done a very good job in the first two rounds. No ref has seemed to be trying to interject himself into the game or control it in any way.

 

Is it a coincidence that Ted Valentine, John Higgins and Roger Ayers (along with three others) we all sent home before the tournament even started?
