Brossart comes from an early game deficit of 20-8 after one quarter, rally late, and defeat visiting Henry County 68-64 on Brossart Senior Day.

We witnessed a really, really good big man in Henry County Senior Trevor Hardin who laid 17 points on us before the fans were comfortable in their seats.  He would score 32 points on the day to lead all scorers, and caused us trouble on both ends of the floor.  Hardin scored his 2,000th Point at the 4:36 mark of the first quarter.  He also wowed the crowd with a trio of tomahawk slam dunks.  Teammate Sam Royalty contributed 13 points. 

Brossart Senior Carson Schirmer countered with 27 points, while moving into 12th Place among all-time Brossart leading scorers.  Robbie Verst netted 14, David Govan 12, and Mason Sepate 10.   With the win the Mustangs improve to 12-9 on the season, have won 6 of our last 7, and amazingly 5 of 6 since losing the services of our leading scorer, Stephen Verst.  We remain hot from the free-throw line, knocking down 27 of 31.

The Mustangs will host Calvary Christian on Monday night which will determine the bracket for the upcoming 37th District Tournament.

    

 

Hardin is really fun to watch.   He will likely rank very high in the 8th Region Player of the Year balloting.....though I expect Niece of SK to win the POY award, Hardin should be a slam-dunk (pun intended) to rank on the All-Region "First Team" (top 5 vote-getters).

What are his college prospects???

I was on the broadcast and didn't get to chat with Coach Welsh after the game to ask him.

I haven't really had the opportunity to talk with Coach Enoch Welch about Hardin's college offers....I would think that he should have numerous NAIA and D3 teams lining up to offer.     Tremendous motor.    One of the most consistently strong inside players I've seen in the 8th in a long, long time.

That said, he's not big enough likely to attract a lot of larger schools' interest as he's not much of a threat out on the floor, and isn't big enough to play inside for those schools.

Maybe this is an oversimplification, but I have said for years that the biggest difference between NAIA and NCAA players is about four inches of height.
