Russell had quite the teams back in late 70s and early 80s and we never took an McGlone team for granted.

The `77 semifinal loss to Highlands was a seminal moment for Russell football. It showed they were capable of hanging with the elite of 3A. When you hang with the Birds, you feel like you can hang with anyone, and it helped catapult Russell to a state title the following year.
