November 10, 20205 yr Author The storm continues to weaken. It must have gotten ahold of that dry air Dennis Philips was taking about.
November 10, 20205 yr Author It's an absolutely beautiful day here in the Tampa Bay area after 3 days of bluster and rain.
November 11, 20205 yr Author DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 PM EST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Eta was located near latitude 23.8 North, longitude 84.5 West. Eta is moving toward the north-northeast near 9 mph (15 km/h). A motion toward the north-northeast is forecast through Thursday. On the forecast track the center of Eta will move closer to but offshore of the southwest coast of Florida on Wednesday, approach the west-central coast of Florida Wednesday night, and move inland over the northern portion of the Florida peninsula on Thursday. Data from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is forecast through Wednesday, and Eta could be near hurricane strength by Wednesday morning. Gradual weakening is expected to begin Wednesday night or early Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center.
November 11, 20205 yr I wouldn't underestimate ETA. The eye of the storm reformed overnight and radar indicated winds are increasing at the mid-levels. It still could make landfall as a hurricane.
November 11, 20205 yr ETA has once again reach cat 1 status. The tracking cone has narrowed so we are getting a pretty good idea where this system will go. You can see that the eye is getting a little ragged. This means some dry air is getting mixed in so ETA might not get too much stronger.
