Whatever you thought of Coach Norman he got a raw deal. Frankfort hired a superintendant that new nothing about the system and just about ruined it. When you create an enviroment where the coach is constantly looking over his shoulder to see who is being allowed to stab him in the back it doesn't do much for your athletic programs. The state now runs the financial part of the district, and now with some good Frankfort longtimers running the district it should soon be turned back around. Their lucky to have any good people left there period. Thank goodness Foley has stayed with the football program.If things had been handled correctly four years ago Joey Thacker would be in his fourth year as head boys coach and FHS would be competitve with just about anyone.I will have to agree with Purple and CoachBuckett in the coaching changes having an effect and being proud of the seniors for sticking it out. Hang in there Panthers it will get better.:

I respectfully disagree with you about Chalk. As for Norman I wouldn't say he didn't know basketball. Talked with him on several occasions, he has a mind for the game.

 

As for the parents who cared so much for the kids at Frankfort They are M.I.A

 

Just like most Independent schools the talent pool will goes in a cycle. The 11th regiopn is tough if you got it or not.

I just think it's kind of funny that old Tommy is to blame for the rise and the fall of Frankfort Basketball. He brought some great players in with his boys but he wouldn't stay out of harms way. I find it funny that Foley is the savior for your athletic programs. Foley is a good coach but he has tried and tried to get a coaching job at other places. You are correct. If he was hired for another position, you would be looking at closing your doors and joining the county school system. That is the thing that administrators need to understand at these 1A schools. Athletics can drive the enrollment of a school. Especially if you are an independent district. You almost have to get some kids from the County school system to survive and the more you get the better.

 

Take a look at the basketball teams in the early 2000's. Both Current's lived in Western Hills territory while Cash, Gross, Dunigan and others lived in Franklin County district. Tory came from Lexington only because Frankfort was loaded. If you had only kids in your district, you would have never competed. Can you imagine Western Hills with both Current's and Graham. They would have been loaded.

You need to understand what you read. Never said Foley was the savior of all the athletic programs,but that they have had enough since to keep him. Mike Oder leaving the school district had much more to do with Chalk and Thacker leaving than anything else. Don't know where you're getting your information on Foley trying and trying to find jobs other places, but I'd have to say you don't know what your talking about. I also thought Tory came because of his home situation at least that what was told to the KHSAA.
