Grant Co. will make the trip down I-75 for a district game and their first visit to the "Farm". Grant comes into the game at 2-1 coming off a nice district win at home over Montgomery Co. 50-40. The Braves are led on offense by running back Logan Sutherland. He has really been a workhorse early on for Coach Jacob Morris. Through only 3 games Sutherland has carried the ball a whopping 105 times for 545 yards and 7 touchdowns. Also the Braves junior quarterback Conner Knipp has been impressive early on he has thrown for 626 yards and 5 touchdowns. His main target is junior receiver Carson Bick he has 8 catches for over 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. What will be a issue for Grant in this one will be on the defensive side of the ball. The Braves defense is giving up a little over 35 points per game that could be a problem against the high octane offense of the Broncos.

Frederick Douglass their first win of the season and giving Coach Nathan McPeek his first win as the Bronco head coach with a nice win at Ballard on Saturday 49-21.  The Broncos are now 1-1 on the season with their first two games having been against the number 2 and 6 ranked teams in BGP's rankings. Douglass new junior quarterback Samuel Cornett look a lot more comfortable running the Bronco's offense. Cornett was 15/24 for 259 yards and 4 touchdowns. Bronco running back Darius Neal backed up his impressive 137 yard rushing game against North Hardin with 90 yards against Ballard on only 16 carries. The Bronco defense may not get ink like the offense does, but they are very good in their own right they have allowed only 3 touchdowns and 26 points and have caused 6 turnovers so far this season.

I think the Broncos are just too strong and talented for the Braves this season. Grant County's defense is allowing 35 points per game and with Douglass just putting 49 points on Ballard on the road. I think it will be tough on their defense to stop Douglass. One thing that could benefit the Braves is that this is a short week for the Broncos with their game at Ballard being on Saturday and this game is scheduled for Thursday night giving Douglass just 4 days off. I do look for Douglass to win by 20 or more.

I feel for my southern neighbors in this one.
