Whitley vs. Williamsburg predictions

Featured Replies

Whitley County will travel to Williamsburg Tuesday to face off against Coach Robinson and the Jackets. From what I've saw of both teams I expect this to be a close one. McRay, Kilgore and Teague all looked good against Burgin and with Whitley missing three players this should be interesting. :ylsuper:

I take the Jackets in a surprise.

Is the Petite kids playing, I figured he would be a big part of the program this year after a promising year last year.

Ahhh, brings back memories of life long long ago in a galaxy far away, oh back to reality, my beloved Colonels will give it thier all in this crosstown shootout.

The King says

WC 69

Burg 61

WCHS class of 1977

This is an excellant cross-town rival game. One in which the smaller school has had some success against the bigger one. The kids know each other well, and it makes for a heated but clean rivalry, but this year Williamsburg will overcome the adversity they have had and win the game, Whitley has nobody to contend with McCray at the point.

Of course I tend to be a realist and think that this year Williamsburg better get Whitley because I may be the last chance for a long, long, long time.

Williamsburg has a decent Fr. and Soph. class Apex, I think it will be competitive for a few more years...After that who knows...

You could be right but they never beat them in middle school and even stopped playing because of the dominance of the Whitley kids who are soph and freshmen now. Plus Whitley now has a coach who is a proven winner but this year I think Williamsburg may have the edge simply because of the the fact that Whitley basicly has no upper classmen and is relying on the younger kids who are already having some measured success.

I agree, i believe that the Sophmore and Freshman at Whitley right now is a very talented groupl. I believe that the 50th district will be a much closer race in the next 2 or 3 years.

No one will be as far ahead as South is this season. The gap between all four teams will be tight next year in my opinion. Sounds like many think Whitley will be in the driver's seat after this year. I would not go that far. I think Corbin has the best young kids in the area. Of course with Coach Deaton at the helm the Colonels may close that 50 point gap quickly.

What about Williamsburg & South? They both have talented younger players that can compete with Corbin or Whitley.

I would agree. South will always have a solid program. Even when the big 3 graduate South will be at or near the top of the district and region almost every year. Wburg has some potential in their younger kids as well. I think this district will be the best in the region next year and the year after that.

I have not heard ANYONE say that Whitley would be in the driver's seat, they would be luck to be in the car, much less the drivers seat. I have heard them say they will be more competitive in the next couple of years.

However, I do believe that Whitley will be farther down the road to competing next year than that of their crosstown rivals, the Yellow Jackets. But this Tuesday I see Williamsburg being the more competitive.

The 50th district will just about always be one of the best if not the best district in the 13th region, especially when the Whitley & W'burg progams get to where they want to be.

I figured Mountain Mutt would add his two cents worth on this game. He must be too busy working these days. If I were heading to the game I would plan to arrive early. They will be hanging from the raftors in Mountjoy Gym tomorrow night. Best of luck to both teams. May the best team win.
