What I think is wrong these past few games that I have been to is Newport has the White kid close to 1000 points. I’ve heard fans (a few are relatives) yelling at the coaches, “why are you taking him out”, “put him back in he’s your best player”, “Snapp you are the worse coach in Newport history”. I’ve seen this Newport team earlier in the season and now and it’s no where near the same team. I feel that the fans and relatives need to allow this to happen naturally instead of trying to force it. DaeShawn White is a heck of a player, but to me right now you can tell he’s chasing 1000 points by taking bad shots. From what I’ve heard earlier in the season he was averaging almost a triple double. To now he’s taking over 20 shots a game and dropping his assists down in half). He’s by far Newport’s best player, but right now it looks like fans are becoming a big issue to what’s going on at Newport. The thing is when these people are yelling things to the coaches the players on the bench can hear them. I’m sure players on the bench while these things are being yelled at the coaches are effecting them in a negative way. The Newport team earlier in the year was fun to watch and now it looks like a 1 man show. Newport has a ton of talent and can beat decent teams. The Newport team earlier in the season will not be back until this young man gets his 1000 point and it’s a shame because they have all the talent in the world. I hope the fans just let this happen (which it will) and Newport can move on from it and worry about the Districts.

I've saw a few Newport games this year and I really have not witnessed any of the verbal attacks. I will agree they are not the same team as of late that they were early.

I did not hear them early on but I would say the last 2 or 3 homes games it’s been going on. I think the young man will get his 1000 points but fans should allow him to get it whenever he does. I’ve heard he needs 28 points to reach that milestone.

I was on the floor for one game this season and did, in fact, hear some of the verbal nonsense from the stands. While I'm positive based on the results we're seeing that Coach Snapp - who is one of the best in the 9th - is dealing with ALOT from the negative element in the community spoken of here, I'm pretty sure they've also lost a few key players from an already short on talent/numbers team.

 

The nonsense and vitriol that I heard that night was beyond ridiculous and I feel for Coach Snapp and those the live and die with the Wildcats, but I think the issues here are more a perfect storm of things externally and internally.

 

I'll say this though, the 9th is better with Newport hitting on all cylinders. Hate to see any decline in the Wildcat program.
