Appears as the 12th Region has produced some great competition and has shaped out to be a tough region. Top half of the region has produced what appears as 4-5 teams that on any given night are capable of knocking off each other and according to the RPI system(not currently being used for basketball) it shows that the top of the region is Casey County(19-5) followed by Southwestern(19-4), Danville(18-6), Rockcastle(19-6) and Mercer County(18-6). Each of those teams could very easily get hot and come out as region champs. Should shake out to be a solid tournament coming up in a few short weeks.

Very good girls basketball region this season, as it always is. I think Casey County is the best team but as you mentioned there are four or five teams capable of winning the region. Mix in the second tier of Pulaski County (who started strong but has struggled of late), Wayne County (lots of losses but most without Blevins who might be the best player in the region), Lincoln County (who is formidable but is playing without Shearer), Garrard County (very good guard play), and Somerset. There are some good teams that will be eliminated in district play.

I think Blevins is easily the best player in the region. I also think Wayne is a dark horse. But Casey barring a upset should be your 12th region champ.

Region 12 has been and looks to continue to be one of the best girls basketball regions in the state. The region represents well in the sweet 16 with their team playing for a title in each of the last 3 years, winning two. Whoever comes out will be battle tested and poised to make another deep run!

Right now I agree it does look to be Casey County that should come out of the region but with 3-4 solid contenders it’s not guaranteed. One bad night and there sitting at home and someone else is moving on. That’s what makes this region so good any team can get hot and win region even outside of the top tier there are teams that if they catch you just right they are capable of pulling the upset. Should be a fun region to watch yet again this year.

I think it’s just as likely Mercer sweeps these last three, as it is that they go winless. Still only the the Rock loss within the region for Mercer, is solid. Even if Casey and SW both get them here at the end of the season, it’s a good year!

I never looked at Danville remaining opponents with those two games good chance they make it to 20 and then Mercer as well so that would make all 5 teams reaching that 20 wins. 5 teams with at least 20 wins in the region shows the strength of this region. Not sure you will find another region that will have 5 teams most are lucky to have 2 or 3 tops some good basketball being played again in the 12th hoping for a deep showing in the sweet 16 as each team will be tested within its own region from solid basketball and should be ready for whatever matchup they face.

Wow just when I stated it didn’t look likely that Mercer would get 20 wins before the district starts they go and show me up by beating top dog Casey County in 3 OT’s! Just shows you never know in this region!! We are now at 4 teams with 20 wins!

Let’s see if Danville (19-7) who won today and now have 2 games left can get it done next to make it 5 teams with 20 wins in the region. 2 games left Casey County and Taylor odds they will win their 20th game when they play Taylor but let’s just see what happens before we jump the gun...in this region you just can’t say for sure on anything!

 

You also got to keep your eyes on Wayne County they are a dark horse who can play also Pulaski on a good night is no push over those two teams may play spoiler to some teams!

 

For all intensive purposes Region 12 does look primed to be a 5 team race to the finish let’s see how the regular season ends next week and get ready for the district tournament after that so we can finally get on with that much anticipated region tourney!

Mercer is really good and they can get after you with all of their quickness. Lots of good teams at the top of the 12th.

Did you get to see the game tonight between Garrard and Rock? Would like your honest assessment and opinion about how rock played against you guys... I know you have seen some of the other top teams in the region just didn’t know how you may think we stack up with the top half. I know we have beat some good teams this year and have let some get away and just wanted to see what your thoughts were.

Didn’t get to see. My son’s little league team had practice same time as the game. From what I heard from those there, Rockcastle’s size was a problem and they were in control pretty much from the get go.
