Billy Joel

Featured Replies

Tonight. 8 PM. Amalie Arena. Tampa.

Father/Daughter night out. It will be my 6th time seeing him in concert and my 3rd time with my daughter. It's kind of a homage to shorty's biological mother who passed in 1992. I attended 3 of his concerts with her, who was the ultimate Billy Joel fan.

I will be working his concert at GABP in Sept. I am curious how that will go for me. Either way, will be fun to hear him perform live.

Amalie holds about 30K for concerts and every seat was full. Billy is 70 years old and can still bring it.

He sang "The Downeaster Alexa" and "Summer, Highland Falls", 2 songs I love but have never heard him do in concert. It amazed me that everybody was singing those, too.

"River of Dreams" contained an interlude of ZZ Top's "Tush" and, like last time, "You May Be Right" had an interlude of Zeplin's "Rock and Roll", both sang by backup Mike DelGuidice.

DelGuidice also did a remarkable rendition of Puccini's "Nessun Dorma". Holy crap, this guy's got some pipes. This sent chills down my spine. I'm taking Mrs. S to see Andrea Bocelli Valentines Night. I can't wait for his rendition.
