Amazing crowd. Cars illegally parked all over the place...LOL

Seriously, both sides of the gym were full from top to bottom, the student sections were boisterous, the concourse was three-deep full in the end zone, and so many people were in the walkways it was fortunate that the fire marshal wasn't there. It was loud, and it was a regional tournament atmosphere with the band, cheerleaders, etc., etc.

And a great ballgame.

First win for Oldham in the South Oldham gym since March of 2007...

Difference-making stat: Unofficially, Oldham outrebounded South, 33-23. Honestly, it didn't seem that close.

Statistically, neither team performed to their usual standards. Two of the best free throw shooting teams in the state had difficult nights at the line. Two of the best three-point shooting teams in the state both managed just five makes from beyond the arc - and did not shoot good percentages.

But where some lamented their team's poor execution, I saw two teams playing in front of a packed house (which they likely won't play in front of again until the district tournament), a loud gym, and fighting for a chance to get a leg up in the battle for the district #`1 seed....And, oh yeah, it's a pretty darn intense rivalry! I think these two teams are so talented that they were both successful in keeping the other team from playing "their game". This is what great teams do. And that made for a night during which every pass, every dribble, every shot, and every rebound was contested relentlessly.

Big second period for Oldham's Deaton Oak, who almost single-handedly pulled Oldham from behind to a halftime lead by hitting four three pointers in the second period. Oldham was challenged repeatedly by South in the second half, but for all intents and purposes, the Colonels held their ground after halftime.

Don't talk about how cars were parked, I could have been one of them. LOL

Too funny. The Sports Editor of the Oldham Era was supposed to be Pegasus' pre-game guest, but he had to park so far away, he showed up too late for the interview....

:ohbrother:

My wife arrived during the girls' game and was one of those cars parked illegally....I think she figured that there weren't enough tow trucks in Oldham County to tow them all away....

:lol2:
