During the holiday hoopla, St. Henry defeated Ludlow 86-44 last Friday night and Coach Dave Faust earned his 400th victory.

 

A member of the Newport Central Catholic and Thomas More University Halls of Fame, Dave is in his 27th season as head coach of the Crusaders.

 

St. Anthony boy keeps on grinding. Congrats Coach Faust.

St. Henry coach David Faust collects 4th win

On a personal note, Coach Faust was, in his high school days, one of the fiercest opponents I’ve ever watched or competed against. His clutch free throw shooting in the 4^th quarter and overtime helped New Cath seal the win in the ’75 9^th region basketball final versus Holy Cross.

 

He also has an unusual trifecta as a member of Regional championship teams in three different sports:

Basketball - A guard on Ken Gross’ 1975 basketball team.

Baseball - A 2B/SS/3B on Bob Schneider’s 1975 and 1976 teams.

Cross Country - A scoring member of Carl Foster’s 1976 team.

An incredible coach and athlete and an even better man.

There is a lot to be said for a coach who dedicates 27 years of his life to the same program, through good times and bad, with the same unwavering passion year in and year out.
