What are the rules for a player disqualification in the first half of a game? Are they allowed to come back in the second half of the next game or are they suspended for one full game?

I believe they are out of that game and also suspended for the next game.

There was also a strange ending to the first quarter of the Central Hardin vs. Meade County game. Central Hardin QB Chase Elmore was called for intentional grounding as the clock ran out effectively ending the first quarter. The officials permitted an untimed down for Central Hardin before officially ending the first quarter? Somebody needs to help me understand this call?

I am not an official but I think that should not have been an untimed down at the end of a quarter. That only applies at the end of a half.

A period will not be extended when the foul that occurs on the last play of the quarter involves a loss of the down. In the play example above the quarter should not have been extended since intentional grounding is a loss of down foul. Extension of the quarter can happen at the end of any quarter not just at halftime.

According to the KHSAA handbook in football they are suspended for the next 2 games.
