Universal Orlando

Mrs. doomer and I want to go to Universal Orlando, specifically the Harry Potter theme parks, next spring break. I've done a little pricing on-line, but I though I might ask if anyone has experience and recommendations on the most cost effective way to go about this trip.

If you can stand to sit through them, you can usually find a time share presentation to sit through to get you discounted tickets.

Looking for advice on tickets or hotels? If you’re looking for a decent place to stay at a good price I would probably say Marriott Village. Good hotels, lots of restaurants around, and usually pretty inexpensive. It’s closer to Disney but only about 15 minutes from Universal. If you’re trying to do Disney as well I can get you a discount on tickets.

We’ve stayed at the Best Western Orlando Gateway the last three times we’ve been to Universal and liked it. Literally two minutes from Universal and a fraction of the price of other lodging in the area.

Many years ago stayed "on-property" at the Hard Rock hotel. That came with early access and also the "head-of-the-line" access. Walking to park was nice. So the premium price did have value.
